Q: Is match criteria comparison case sensitive? A: After 14.5.0 Yes There was some logic prior to 14.5.2 to make matching ignore case, that was removed to allow true matching.
Q: Can you update existing products in the products table? A: Yes, you can match on a field or fields and update it. One method would be to export all the products, update any of the fields (Name, ItemNumber, Cost, Price) the import back in matching on the Record ID (GUID). Note that custom fields in the Product table are NOT yet editable via OAK!Merge Q: Can you update existing products in an Opportunity? A: No, you can only append new products to an Opportunity; one per merge. You cannot update or delete existing ones. Q: How can I add several products to the same opportunity A: You can add one product to an opp per merge. ( name, qty, price….) Note: Add the products to ACT so they are in the Products pull down, before adding opps with those products. There are 2 approaches that work: each Product is… read more →
If a MY RECORD for an USER has a blank contact field; then NO updates to any record manager fields will occur. No error message is returned. This can also be described as ACT users must have Contact names Status: reproduced in 14.1 and 14.4 beta ACT! requires a contact name when you create a new user and does not let you errase it in the detail screen, but apparently there is someway to have a blank one. See below. Below has a space to illustrate how it looks.
The results of a merge are normally shown on the Results page. That page is an HTM page in the logs folder that can be reviews later. Know Bug: The HTM file may not be displayed after a large merge. The XML page is not properly processed to build the HTM results page. The merge was completed but the results were not displayed. This was due to a problem with the progress bar being displayed and was fixed in 14.3. Below is what is NOT displayed on some large imports on fast machines. Status: Fixed

Converting from SalesForce to ACT! just got a lot easier. November 3, 2010 e Tech announced the new Enterprise edition of OAK!Merge which includes a SalesForce Migration Kit. This new version of OAK!Merge is being announced and demoed this week during Perfecting ACT! in Scottsdale, AZ. Alan Lee and Stan Smith collaborated on this new version of OAK!Merge. The SalesForce Migration kit easily converts key information from SalesForce to ACT! Allen Duet, of Sage, expects many users who try SalesForce and decide to switch to ACT! will need an easy migration of existing data. Currently the migration kit includes all the SalesForce users, accounts, contacts, leads, activity history, opportunities, and attachments. All this in a load and go, one click utility, for $1,500. It is a simple three step process: 1. Download and install the OAK!Merge Enterprise Edition with SalesForce Migration Kit. 2. Unzip the contents of a full backup… read more →
OAK!Merge 13.1.1 is released. It sorts the mapping screen based on the display name and has a fix for a bug updating custom table entries for companies with no contacts attached. Supports ACT 2011 ( ver 13) I also just finished testing to bring in MAS 200 info: AR Aging; Invoices; and open Orders each night at 2 AM. Unattended merges are great!
Q: How can I trouble shoot my unattended merge? A: Review the examples in the OAK!Merge manual. A good process to trouble shoot is to make sure each step works before going to the next step. Watch the logs folder. You will see the files get created as it starts and completes each merge. The XML has all the details of what happened. 1. Open OAK!Merge pick the profile and MERGE. It should run without errors. 2. Create and run a RunOM.bat file, per the manual with a pause line, so you can see any errors. 3. Use a scheduler to run the RunOM.bat. It should run without errors.
